Introducing Sloan Park, Home of the Cubs Spring Training

Sloan Park has hosted some of the most legendary baseball players in the world and has been a proud fixture of Arizona for some time. This is a baseball park that was opened in 2014 in Mesa, Arizona.

The Chicago Cubs are the primary operator and this park will be their home for spring training. It is also home to the Arizona League’s Cubs and Mesa Solar Sox from the Arizona Fall League. The park was built by the residents of the city of Mesa, who approved the design and building of the park by ballot measure and was built to be the home for the Chicago Cubs during spring training (who formerly were training at the Hohokam Stadium).

This park used to be known as Cubs Park, but the Sloan Valve Company had signed a deal to have the rights to name the park. Thus it was renamed to Sloan Park. The park holds up to fifteen thousand people and is actually one of the largest training parks in the world.

It is the largest spring training stadium according to capacity in the Major League, bigger than even the Camelback Ranch in Glendale. This park is already the pride of Arizona, and the Cubs are always welcome guests every spring.

The new home of the Cubs is in a busy area of the city that has close access to two of the region’s freeways (the 101 and the 202). The roads can take you to the Mesa Riverview Park for some shopping as well. Parking is found just beyond the right field in a big grass field; that’s the general parking lot.

The paved lot is for VIPs along the first base side as well as those who are handicapped. The parking is a little expensive, but there are some free park and ride options that have been provided to patrons thanks to the nearby shopping center. Check out Tempe Marketplace or Mesa Riverview to shuttle to the park.

Ticket pricing varies on seating location. Call ahead or go online to find the current pricing. The great part is, tickets run as affordably as $5 to $10. Another cool feature of the park is how much it was designed after Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. The light towers on the roof, as well as other design elements, pay direct tribute to Wrigley.

There are tons of seats to sit in at Sloan Park, and also a few food options too, so there’s always something to eat. The largest venue for spring training and the amount of people that the park can hold make it a delightful destination for a day game. Local tax payers paid $99 million to build this park, and the Cubs are now the proud patrons of the park.

The park replaced a nine hold course. A portion of this budget was also spent to retain the Cubs. The stadium includes a kids zone, and a play place, which most kids will love to stop by and check out. There are also many team shops and stands within the stadium to buy souvenirs.

Sloan Park is the proud home of the Cubs in Mesa, Arizona. If you’re in town, stop on by and check out the fun.
