Visiting Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Arizona for the First Time

If you’re the type of person that enjoys a little novelty entertainment with your food, you are going to love Organ Stop Pizza. Located in Mesa, Arizona, the place is a huge drawn for the locals and tourists alike. So, just what is so special about this little pizza place? That would have to be the very unique Wurlitzer Organ. The 23 rank organ is among the largest in the world and was installed officially in 1975, culled together from the original 1927 Wurlitzer.

Organ Stop Pizza is one of the only restaurants where you can enjoy live organ music while you eat your food. Some people enjoy the music, others like the pizza, while many enjoy a combination of the two and the flashing lights. Coming here is the best chance you’ll ever have at hearing a professionally trained organist play ACDC’s “Back in Black” while you casually eat a combination pizza. Who can turn down that?

People love the organ playing here, and the pizza is phenomenal. Those who come to the Organ Stop are often surprised at how stimulating the experience is, what with all of the lights and the music. It’s rare that you could find another pizza shop in the world where a commanding Wurlitzer Organ is being played as you eat your pizza.

The organ is played on a revolving stage, another tactic that should be tacky but only makes the whole experience more fun. The organists are skilled and professional, and you can even submit requests that are taken by writing them down on a suggestion card and submitting them. You can hear modern music played on an organ from the thirties– it doesn’t get much cooler than that!

Of course, due to copyright considerations the Organ Stop requests that their patrons only take photographs and not video. However, the organ playing is so entertaining that just watching and listening is fun enough for most folks! The lights and the huge volume of the room make you almost feel as though you are in Vegas. If you want a particularly good view of the show, head up to the second floor balcony and you’ll get a great view.

Of course the organ playing is reason enough alone to come to Organ Stop Pizza, but there’s also a small gift shop if you’re interested. Pizza also isn’t the only thing on the menu, although you can get a 8, 12, or 14 inch pizza with a variety of toppings or even a 12 or 14 inch gluten-free pizza.

You can also order up specialty pizzas (try the Hawaiian), pasta, appetizers (mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, garlic bread and more), a sandwich, or hit up the well-stocked salad bar. If you’re thirsty, order up some soda, or just try some wine or a draft beer! You can also get some delicious ice cream for dessert if you’re still hungry.

Organ Stop Pizza is a completely unique place to eat and you’ll definitely make a great memory if you go. If you’re going to be in or near Arizona and want to check this place out for the first time, go for it! Organ Stop Pizza is located at 1149 East Southern Lane in Mesa, Arizona and is open seven days a week. You can check their hours and learn more at their website, www.organstoppizza.com.
